An 18 year resident of Pinedale, "Mayor Steve" moved to Wyoming after
attending the University of Kentucky. He has worked in the area as a
restaurant owner, fly-fishing guide, and for the Sublette County Sheriff's
Office. Running on a platform of positive leadership and proactively
addressing the challenges of the "boom" brought on by natural gas production
in the community, Mayor Smith was elected to a four year term in May, 2006.
Steve and his wife Ana have two children, six year old Sofia and three year
old Nicolas.

Term May 08 thru May 11
Time in Pinedale - Moved to Pinedale in July of 1958
Goals/objectives - I would like to see orderly growth. Make wise financial
decisions that will benefit Pinedale not only now but in years to come.
I would like to see our drainage problem starting to be solved. Some of our
streets are in pretty poor shape and we need new water and sewer lines in
parts of the town. I would like to see the lot we purchased made into a
parking lot that the town needs.
Occupation - Retired. I am on 4 boards or committees and like to keep
involved in the community.

Assistant to the Mayor
The Assistant to the Mayor is the public liaison for the Mayor and Council Members. The Mayor and Town Council are elected part-time positions; almost all members have full-time jobs. Given the growth and number of issues faced by the Town of Pinedale a full-time position is required to serve as the initial point of contact for persons seeking to contact the Mayor and Council members (if those members cannot be reached directly). On behalf of the Mayor and Council the Assistant acts as proxy to other government entities and community organizations when members are unable to attend. The Assistant conducts and prepares research and reports on important issues to the Town that is outside other departments. Observes and reports on legislative and local issues that may affect or are of interest to the Town. Works with other departments to research and prepare grants for Town projects and prepares neighborhood newsletters and other public communication.
